Weather Video: Southerly weakening significantly as it moves north

> From the WeatherWatch archives

nzherald.co.nz and Philip Duncan from WeatherWatch.co.nz bring you the latest on the weakening southerly which is expected to bring more cloud than showers for the North Island on Thursday.

At the same time the weather in the South Island will improve, especially inland areas like Queenstown.

By Friday the very weakened front gets pushed east as a new high rolls in towards southern and central New Zealand.

It slightly misses northern New Zealand so easterlies and cloudy periods – along with increased humidity – will continue there for the holiday weekend.

As for the rest of NZ this Waitangi Weekend – expect mostly settled weather but still plenty of cloudy periods in the north and east especially – and maybe some inland afternoon showers near the ranges.

Please note – due to Auckland Anniversary holiday this week and now Waitangi weekend we’re only producing one Herald video this week – but we’re back to our usual schedule next Tuesday.
