More heavy rain and strong winds will affect other parts of the country now that the sub-tropical low has reached New Zealand and is weakening.
The winds will be strongest between the centre of this low and the high to the south (the squash zone). This means windier SE winds will move into central and southern NZ over the next 24 hours, while easing to some degree in the north.
However more heavy rain is coming – to both islands – mostly in the east.
