Weather Video: High pressure building, but Sunday looks rough for many

> From the WeatherWatch archives

High pressure is building across the country and while a few showers will affect the coastal fringes mainly dry weather will now be the theme for most areas until Saturday.

This weekend the high strengthens over the North Island on Saturday but drifts away on Sunday.

Between this strong high and a large area of low pressure moving into the South Island we can expect strong to gale force nor’westers through Central New Zealand this Sunday, making for a blustery day in the east.

At the same time heavy rain moves up the West Coast and into Taranaki later.
