The weather is trying to settle down over the next 48 hours with high pressure from Australia coming.
It’s not a perfect set up with still a few coastal showers in the fringes of the nation, mostly Southland and the North Island, but most of those showers do clear on Friday and Saturday.
However by Saturday night windier nor’westers will be building over the South Island and may reach gale force on Sunday around central New Zealand / Wellington / Cook Strait.
Heavy rain on Sunday will turn to snow in the mountains as a cold front sweeps northwards, clearing New Zealand on Monday and leaving a colder south to south west air flow (again) for the start of next week.
