As expected the warm weather is out east today. Christchurch is on 18 degrees as is Napier. Our front just entering Southland is spreading high cloud over the lower South Island, the rest of the West Coast is cloudy and right up to Waikato is pretty cloudy also but the further north you go there are sunny areas especially north of Auckland.
A few light showers are getting into Taranaki and Kapiti then south of Hokitika there is wet weather, Southland also has showers at present. The highest rainfall for the past 24 hours has been in Fiordland although not too much to speak of.
The result of the crunched up isobars means there is a bit of wind about, Wellington is currently getting the windiest weather out of the main centres with 44km/h winds from the north gusting to 63km/h at times. It is also fairly windy about the alps and foothills from Canterbury southwards with 40 to 50 km/h winds from the northwest blowing through.
