Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.
UNSTABLE WEATHER ROLLS IN AGAIN
Quite unsettled today or becoming unsettled as an area of low pressure rolls over the country from the west, most regions can expect rain or showers at some point and thunderstorms with hail are possible too.
For more details on today’s thunderstorm risk please check out these maps from Metservice here.
There are also a few rain watches and warnings out too, you can see them here.
CANTERBURY TO GET RAIN TODAY AND LATER TOMORROW
It looked like Canterbury was drying out there for a moment but recent rains have brought Canterbury back into the green and we have some more rain on the way. This morning it is dry but as southerlies push northwards this afternoon expect showers, some may become heavy with thunderstorms and hail then easing overnight.
Tomorrow we have a few showers in the morning then drying out mostly, late afternoon showers build again about South Canterbury then turning to rain, rain pushes northwards overnight with southerly winds.
SETTLED ON SATURDAY
A ridge of high pressure brings some settled weather for a time on Saturday, a warm front passing by the far south may bring a few showers though and the upper North Island could get a few showers due to a trough hanging over the area, but in general mainly settled.
A new front lines up the South Island on Saturday with showers as it moves northwards, perhaps some rain in the west.
