Weather headlines (x3) for Wednesday: Front far south, Temperatures lift, Southerlies on Friday

Here’s what is making the weather headlines today…

FRONT MOVES INTO FAR SOUTH

The main action on our radar today is a front moving onto the lower South Island this afternoon, it brings rain into Fiordland then South Westland and some high cloud out east.

TEMPERATURES LIFT

Afternoon temperatures for the eastern South Island and many North Island regions lift into the mid to late twenties today.

Right along the South Island’s eastern coastline however temperatures will be a bit cooler thanks to east to northeasterly winds, the warmer temperatures will be further inland.

SOUTHERLIES EASTERN SOUTH ISLAND ON FRIDAY

A southerly wind shift pushes up the east coast of the South Island on Friday, starting out about the far south in the afternoon then reaching into Canterbury during the evening bringing showers.

Temperatures will be warm in the afternoon but dropping once that southerly kicks in.

There is still looking to be some instability about the Nelson region and Central North Island on Saturday afternoon.
