Here’s what is making the weather headlines this weekend.
HEAVY RAIN WEST COAST OVERNIGHT SUNDAY
A northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand on Sunday, the North Island is mostly sunny beyond some high cloud pushing in from the west later in the day. The South Island has sun and high cloud too, the West Coast sees cloud thicken up with showers about Fiordland becoming more widespread about South Westland in the evening.
A front pushes in from the Tasman Sea bringing rain to the West Coast overnight Sunday into Monday, rain may be heavy.
SOME INSTABILITY ON WEDNESDAY
Cold upper air moves over New Zealand on Wednesday next week, this leads to some instability for the upper South Island and parts of the North Island. A few showers may result that could be heavy with a chance of thunder.
