Here’s what is making the weather headlines today.

GALES IN THE SOUTH

A frontal feature moves past south of the South Island today, this will influence strong westerlies to develop about coastal Southland this afternoon with winds likely reaching gale force then easing this evening.




MORE FROSTS THIS MORNING AND TOMORROW MORNING

Temperatures below zero this morning for the inner South Island, similar again tomorrow and Sunday although the frost risk does reduce a little as we move forward.




HIGH PRESSURE MOVES IN ON MONDAY

A high pressure system moves in on Monday bringing settled, frosty and sunny weather. It doesn’t hang around too long though, later on Tuesday and into Wednesday a low moves in from the Tasman Sea bringing unsettled weather and potentially some heavy rain.
