MetService has now expanded their Severe Weather Warning to include the Bay of Plenty, Wellington and the Kapiti Coast.
Regarding the Bay of Plenty, MetService says; “Rain is expected to become heavy at times from early Friday morning through to early Sunday morning. In the 48 hours from 3am Friday to 3am Sunday, expected 100 to 200mm about the coastal hills and ranges, especially east of Whakatane, with 100mm possible about some lower lying areas. Peak rates could reach 20mm per hour, especially about the coastal hills and ranges.”
For Wellington and Kapiti Coast, rain is expected to become heavy in the early morning hours of Friday and last until Friday night. Rainfall rates could reach 10 to 15mm per hour during the late morning and early afternoon according to MetService.
Severe Weather Warnings continue for Taranaki, the Nelson region and Marlborough.
