The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Melbourne area.
The bureau says severe thunderstorms have been detected on the radar east of Kilmore and near Whittlesea, north of Melbourne.
The weather bureau says there could be damaging winds, flash flooding and large hailstones.
The storm is expected to hit Whittlesea first and then Craigieburn.
Yesterday 100 properties in the eastern suburbs area of Croydon were flooded when storms hit.
And weather bureau forecaster Scott Williams says the storms could be just as bad today.
“We could easily see a repeat of yesterday where we had localised heavy falls and flash flooding with 20 to 30 millimetres in some suburbs.”
