Warm Wednesday with westerly winds

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The warm westerly flow is today moving further into the North Island with a milder day on the way – and even becoming hot in the east. Daytime highs in places like Napier are expected to reach 27 degrees today with temperatures above that possible in some Hawke’s Bay places.

Many eastern areas will climb into the mid 20s today from parts of Canterbury and Marlborough up towards Gisborne. Many other areas will be around the 20 degree mark.

Thursday also looks warm – but a cooler change is moving north slowly this week behind the warm winds.

For example Napier has highs in the mid 20s today and tomorrow, but on Friday a high of just 18 degrees.

Christchurch has a high of around 24 degrees today, just 13 Thursday and 12 on Friday.

The cooler southerly will cross the North Island over Friday and Saturday with Sunday and Monday looking mild in most regions.
