Temperatures this week are going to be much kinder to most New Zealanders as winds from the west or north west continue to blow.
Yesterday both Napier and Kaikoura reached 24 degrees with several other centres climbing to 20 and over.
The next few days look similar with WeatherWatch.co.nz predicting highs in the mid 20s for Canterbury, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
WeatherWatch also expected highs into the 20s for many other centres and regions in the north of both islands and through inland parts of Otago.
Even Southland will feel the warmth with highs into the late teens in Invercargill and possibly reaching 20 inland.
