Warm northwesterlies – Your Main Centre outlook on Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A ridge sits over the upper North Island, between two large areas of high pressure, one to the east and one to the west.

Gusty northwesterlies dominate much of the South Island, with high temperatures in the east of both islands.
The West Coast of the South Island is looking cloudy and wet in South Westland, and further north at times too.

Main Centres

Auckland

A mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures in the mid to high 20s, and afternoon sea breezes.

Wellington

Brisk northerlies dominate the day, though the sun will shine in the capital, helping temperatures into the early 20s.

Christchurch

Sunny and very warm, with high cloud and gusty northwest breezes in Christchurch – along with temperatures in the late 20s.
