VIDEO: Your weekend forecast, tracking northern showers and southern frosts

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The shortest day of the year is on Sunday and the forecast will see both islands split with mild showers in the north and frosts in the south.

By next week high pressure balloons back with drier weather spreading further into the north – but another weak Tasman Sea low will be heading our way later next week with more northern showers likely.

re yesterdays weather: I got 57mm yesterday .

about 20mm of that fell in the downpour that contained the thunderstorm. here in south auckland heard some good rumbles along with some flashes as well. so at least i caught a t-storm for the second time this year. im thinking this might not be the year for t-storms tho right weatherwatch?

G’day Josh

Yeah it hasn’t been all that active regarding thunderstorms so far this winter in Auckland, still plenty of time for that to change. But, some years are just better than others 🙂
