Colder south to south west winds will dominate many regions over the coming days with the lower South Island and Canterbury perhaps most exposed to wet and cold weather.
Snow flurries may get down to 300 or 400m in the lower South Island for a time overnight tonight and Saturday morning (and maybe again overnight Saturday into Sunday morning). Accumulations aren’t much.
Next week high pressure rolls in – well, at least it tries to. More W to SW winds next week too.
