VIDEO: Windy westerlies ahead of possible Monday storm

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Deep low pressure may affect NZ Monday next week but between now and then expect windy westerlies turning colder south west this Friday and Saturday for a time.

King’s Birthday Monday isn’t yet locked in, but a stormy low pressure zone is looking likely to bring a burst of rain, snow on the ranges and colder, windier, weather to many places. We hope to lock in this forecast by tomorrow or Thursday.

Meanwhile Australia has a lot of high pressure with warmer than average daytime weather increasing over the next couple of days – but Tasmania remains exposed, much like the South Island of NZ, to the windy westerlies.
