VIDEO: Weekend weather: Cold southerly to blast lower South Island as low develops over Tasman

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Australia is sending powerful high pressure to NZ next week but before it does a storm in the Southern Ocean will help create a wintry blast this Sunday and Monday, mainly for the lower part of the South Island.

Northern Southland and the Otago hills will likely get a dusting of snow.

Next week that high from Aussie will slowly move into the NZ area bringing frosts here while easing the colder conditions in Australia with a developing northerly flow behind it.

Have a great weekend!
