VIDEO: Powerful high pressure crossing NZ but sub-tropical low coming

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There’s active weather across parts of Australia but NZ has high pressure moving through ahead of low pressure in the north by Sunday.

The sub-tropical low will linger into next week bringing more days of windy nor’easters to the top half of the North Island, while the South Island stays more settled – but warmer.

Australia has a cold front (or a few of them) in the southern half of the country, brushing up to about Sydney by next week with windiest weather around Bass Strait.
