NZ has four mostly sunny, calm, dry, days on the way as a powerful high for this time of year moves in.
The high moving into NZ right now is by far the most dominant weather system around NZ and Australia.
But next week, as the high shifts out to our east, a low in the Tasman Sea may rapidly form and even reach storm status.
It will then likely fall apart around Fiordland – bringing a burst of wind, rain and sub-tropical warmth into the country.
