VIDEO: NZ this week – high pressure vs northern low pressure

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A powerful high pressure system will cross the South Island this week but a low around the upper North Island will also be in play – the two systems likely creating a windy easterly ‘squash zone’ mid week with possible gales.

The good news is it will drive in some further wet weather for the still dry eastern North Island.

This weekend the low falls apart.

The weather this week is feeling more like La Nina which encourages more easterlies, cloud and wet weather into parts of northern NZ.
