VIDEO 2: Major Category 5 Cyclone Lola approaches Vanuatu tonight

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Severe Tropical Cyclone Lola is on track to cross Vanuatu tonight or overnight with the Fiji MetService upgrading it on Tuesday morning to the highest level on the cyclone scale – Category 5.

Winds are currently sustained at 210km/h and gusting 260. Even tonight if the storm eases back a little it is still likely to retain sustained winds of 177km/h and gusts over 210km/h as it tracks over Penama Province in particular.

This is a worst case scenario for Vanuatu at this stage with the storm being slow moving and Category 5.

We track Lola’s path – and hopefully her short lived life towards New Caledonia and Norfolk Island.

As always in our 7 Day Pacific Islands update, we cover FIJI, VANUATU, TONGA, NUIE, RAROTONGA, TAHITI, SAMOA, NEW CALEDONIA, NORFOLK ISLAND, SOLOMON ISLANDS, KIRIBATI AND HAWAII, including 7 day upcoming rainfall.
