A low is developing in the Tasman Sea and by Wednesday it will cover the entire Tasman Sea – from Sydney to Auckland. However it’s not all doom and gloom with the low likely to fall apart as it moves into the North Island late Wednesday and across Thursday.
Also the large size without an overly deep centre means there are large areas of dry and calm with this system.
High pressure south of the country and growing around the South Island may help protect more of New Zealand from the next low from the Tasman Sea – but a deep storm in the Southern Ocean will brush New Zealand by Sunday and next week bringing a burst of strong west to north west winds.
