Ups and downs

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Rain set in over parts of the North Island today before easing and hopefully lifting a little for tonight’s fireworks display.

Despite the dampness in some areas, temperatures were quite bouyant in northern and central areas with Hawkes Bay taking the top temperature of 25 degrees and Whangarei settling on 24.

At the other end of the scale, Fiordland had a chilly Thursday with just a high of 10 at Milford Sound.
