Here’s what is making the weather headlines today…..
A FEW RAIN WATCHES AND WARNINGS LEFT
As our tropical low starts to unravel so does its intensity. We still have a few heavy rain watches and warnings for today though as shown in the image / warning map below from Metservice.
Western Bay Of Plenty is likely to see the heaviest falls today.

AFTERNOON INSTABILITY
Thanks to some reasonable surface humidity conditions may become unstable this afternoon about some inland hills and ranges for both Islands.
There is an even higher risk of downpours and thunderstorms about the ranges of Hawkes Bay / Gisborne / East Cape and eastern Bay Of Plenty on Wednesday, something to keep an eye on as downpours could lead to flash flooding in isolated areas.
Thursday has a chance of thunderstorms for the South Island about Central Otago into the Mackenzie Country, perhaps even parts of the West Coast. Friday gets even more unstable for many parts of New Zealand.

HIGH PRESSURE FOR MUCH OF NEXT WEEK
High pressure starts to move in over New Zealand on Sunday (this coming weekend) then hangs around for much of next week by the looks of current weather models / guidance. Some summer like weather on the cards for sure, isolated heat showers may develop about inland areas at times so one interesting thing to keep an eye on.
