Mainly settled for the South Island today under a weak ridge of high pressure, the North Island has a low situated just to the east directing in rain for the east coast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Occasional showers and sunny spells, showers mostly clear in the evening but the odd one remaining out west. Southwesterlies freshen up in the afternoon.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain or showers, snow to 700m about the Central Plateau, clearing this evening. Southerly quarter winds.
Highs: 11-14
Eastern North Island
Rain, possibly heavy south of about Napier nearer the coast. Rain clears overnight. Southwesterly winds becoming strong in the afternoon about the coast.
Highs: 10-14
Wellington
Showers ease, clearing up in the afternoon with sunny spells breaking through. Cool south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-12
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, morning cloud for Marlborough then breaking away. Light winds tending to the east in the afternoon for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson.

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds tending to the east in the afternoon.

West Coast
Mostly sunny, a few showers for Fiordland then further north later in the evening. West to southwesterly winds.
