Tuesday’s national forecast – Northeasterly airflow increases

A northeasterly airflow increases over New Zealand today as a high pressure system pushes out to the east. A warm front moves onto the West Coast this afternoon. Temperatures are quite hot for many regions.

North Island

Sun and high cloud for most but in the northeast from East Cape across to Northland expect some cloud at times and perhaps a light shower or two. Morning cloud in the east breaks away. Northeasterly winds.

South Island

A mix of sun and high cloud for all, morning low to mid level cloud in the east breaks away. There may even be a morning fog patch inland that clears. Cloud thickens up along the West Coast this afternoon with some light rain moving in, becoming more persistent this evening south of about Hokitika. Northeasterly winds for most, light winds about the far south.
