A front lies over central New Zealand today bringing showers to the upper South Island and rain to the lower half of North Island, dry at either end of the country.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy skies, a few showers move through Waikato and Bay Of Plenty from afternoon. Light west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers turn to rain this morning, easing in the evening. Northwesterlies.
Highs: 16-20

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy, spits about Wairarapa turn to rain this morning, rain spreads into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 23-25

Wellington

Showers turn to rain by midday as northerlies change to the south, rain eases overnight.
Highs: 18-19

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy with the odd shower, a few isolated heavy showers this afternoon then easing later this evening. Light winds tend to the south for Marlborough.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy, some inland areas may be a bit sunnier. From late afternoon cloud thickens and lowers bringing in the risk of a few showers, mainly inland. South to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-25

West Coast

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, north of about Greymouth expect a few showers, clearing at night. Light winds.
Highs: 19-22

Southland & Otago
A mostly sunny morning then cloud gradually increases from afternoon as light winds tend to the south. Drizzle later in the day or overnight for coastal Otago.
Highs: 17-24
