The ridge over the North Island weakens today so the round of fog this morning should be the last time for now. In the South Island a couple of fronts bring some heavy rain to the West Coast, some rain also spills onto the east coast mainly north of about Mid Canterbury.
Auckland & Northland
Cloudy spells with the odd sunny break at times after any morning fog lifts, cloud thickens up later in the evening. Light winds.

Bay Of Plenty
Sunny and cloudy spells with light winds.
Highs: 15-16
Central North Island & Waikato
Sunny spells and some cloud after any morning fog lifts. High cloud increases late afternoon or evening. Light winds.
Highs: 12-15
Eastern North Island
Sunny with some high cloud, north to northeast winds. North of Gisborne some morning cloud may deliver a shower or two then clearing during the afternoon.
Highs: 16-17
Western North Island
Mostly cloudy about northern Taranaki, sunny and cloudy spells further south with northerlies. Cloud gradually thickens from late afternoon. Rain moves into northern Taranaki later in the evening.

Wellington
Cloudy with the odd shower at times, dry spells too. Brisk northerly winds.
High: 13
Nelson
Cloudy with periods of rain, northerly winds.
Highs: 13-14
Marlborough
Showers at times with breezy north to northwesterly winds. Mostly cloudy.
Highs: 13-14
Canterbury
For Mid and North Canterbury expect some cloud with a few spells of rain developing this morning then clearing in the afternoon, sunny areas then increase with light northerlies. Getting into South Canterbury conditions are expected to be mostly sunny with light winds, some evening cloud is possible with the chance of a shower however.

West Coast
Showers, possibly heavy and thundery at times with north to northeast winds. Heavy showers ease later in the evening.
High: 14
Southland & Otago
Morning sunny areas then some afternoon cloud may bring a shower or two before clearing in the evening. Light northerly winds tend northwest in the evening.
