A southerly front moves north over the country today weakening as it goes. Showery weather clearing for the far south and west of the South Island this morning then clearing in the east later on. The odd shower affecting the lower North Island from afternoon then possibly further north in the evening.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
West to southwest breezes with a mix of sunny and cloudy periods, mostly sunny about the Bay Of Plenty. During the day there may be the odd light shower about western Waikato, in the evening winds change more southerly with the chance of a shower for most places.
Highs: 19-22
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud and light winds, a southerly change about Wairarpa around midday brings showers. Showers move into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne by evening.
Highs: 21-24
Western North Island
Showers with northwest breezes changing southerly around midday. The odd sunny spell then develops with showers becoming few and far between to clear by evening.
Highs: 17-18
Wellington
Some early morning rain clears with northwesterlies easing, odd sunny spell then moves in. Late morning southerlies develop with increasing cloud. Chance of the odd brief shower at times for the rest of the day, long dry spells too.

Nelson
Morning cloud clearing to mostly sunny weather, expect light winds to tend southeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-18
Marlborough
Morning high cloud clears with the odd sunny spell pushing through, light winds. Around midday southeasterlies develop bringing increasing cloud, a few showers move in late afternoon

Canterbury
The odd shower develops in the morning with cool southerlies, showers easing in the afternoon and clearing by evening with clear spells then breaking through.

West Coast
Any early showers clear then sunny spells increasing, southwest breezes.
Highs: 16-17
Southland & Otago
A few morning showers mainly about Southland then becoming mostly sunny. Light winds for most and westerlies about the southern coastline.
