A low pressure system moves slowly eastwards today affecting much of the North Island and upper South Island, these areas are likely to get some rain with heavy falls about the Bay Of Plenty and Nelson regions. The lower hald of the South Island will remain mostly dry although there may be some morning rain about the Southland coastline.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Rain with gusty, humid northeasterlies strong at times. Expect the odd heavy fall about the Coromandel and Bay Of Plenty then easing later in the evening.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with the odd patch of rain at first, dry spells too. Late morning more widespread rain develops with brisk northeasterlies then eases later in the evening.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island
Rain with easterly breezes, there may be long dry spells from midday then overnight rain picks up again for a time. Easterly breezes.
Highs: 21-23

Nelson

Rain from morning may be heavy at times then easing a little during the afternoon, expect easterly breezes. Overnight rain becomes heavy.
Highs: 19-20

Marlborough & Wellington
Rain from morning with easterly breezes, chance of a heavy fall or two about Marlborough mainly in the first half of the day. Rain becomes patchy about the capital during the afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury
High cloud thickening and lowering, some rain moves into North Canterbury in the afternoon then pushes further south in the evening, falls in South Canterbury may only be patchy. Southerly breezes from morning.
High: 17-18

West Coast
Patchy rain developing north of about Hokitika in the morning, expect east to southeast breezes. Further south expect high cloud and dry weather with warmer temperatures.
High: 17-21

Southland & Otago
Cloudy skies about coastal areas with light winds, any morning rain about coastal Southland clears. Sunny areas inland. There may be a light shower about the Otago coastline at night as winds tend southerly there.
Highs: 14-17
