A front works it’s way up the eastern coastline of New Zealand today bringing a period of shower with it as it moves north. Skies will be clearing during this morning in the far south however as the front will have moved on by then. Out west for both islands conditions will generally be dry for much of the day, there is the chance of a late afternoon or evening shower however about the Waikato, Bay Of Plenty and Central North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Mostly sunny skies with light winds tending southerly or southeasterly. Late afternoon or in the evening there is the risk of a shower about the BOP, CNI and Waikato then this risk moves to the Coromandel at night as winds tend more easterly there.
Highs: 18-21

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny weather with light winds, southerlies develop about Wairarapa in the afternoon then Hawkes Bay and Gisborne by evening bringing cloud and a period of showers. Showers clear at night with southerlies easing.
High: 19-21

Western North Island
Early cloud clearing with sunny spells increasing, light winds tending northerly. Around midday southeasterlies develop, there may be a brief shower late afternoon otherwise expect a mostly dry day.
Highs: 18-19

Nelson
Mostly sunny with light winds tending east to southeast in the afternoon, there may be a few clouds about here and there.
High: 19-20

Marlborough & Wellington
Clear at first early on with light winds, southerlies pick up by late morning with some cloud. Remaining mostly dry about Marlborough although expect the odd shower about the Capital in the afternoon. Southerlies ease at night with skies becoming clear.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury
Winds change cool southwest early in the morning bringing cloudy skies and a few showers. Showers clear in the afternoon with cloud breaking by evening and southwesterlies gradually dying out. Cold at night.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast
Sunny with light winds.
High: 18

Southland & Otago
Morning cloud clears then becoming mostly sunny with southwesterly breezes dying out by evening. Chilly temperatures at night with light frosts inland.
Highs: 12-16
