Upper North Island

A few early morning showers clear then sunny breaks develop. Breezy southwesterly winds. Expect mostly sunny conditions about Bay Of Plenty in the afternoon. Southwesterly breezes about Gisborne ease during the morning, sunny areas and some cloud.
HIGHS: 20-21 for most. 23-24 about Bay Of Plenty and Gisborne.

Lower North Island

A few early morning showers clear then sunny breaks develop especially further inland and about Wellington. Expect breezy westerly winds tending more northwest about Wellington. There will still be a fair amount of cloud about Kapiti and in other western areas right on the coast during the day. About Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay expect southwesterlies in the morning bringing some cloud, expect long sunny breaks in the afternoon however with winds then tending northeast. From evening northwesterlies freshen about Wairarapa.
HIGHS: Temperatures in the high teens in the west. Low 20’s about the Central North Island, Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny in Nelson with light winds. Mostly sunny about Canterbury and Marlborough with light winds right on the coast tending northwesterly inland. A southerly breeze develops later in the evening about Canterbury with some cloud. West to southwest breezes with cloudy areas and a few sunny breaks at times on the West Coast. Mostly cloudy skies about Fiordland however from morning, cloudy skies pushing into South Westland in the afternoon. Drizzle about Fiordland from evening.
HIGHS: 17 on the West Coast, low 20’s in Nelson. 24-26 in Cantebrury and Marlborough

Lower South Island

Cloudy periods right on the Southland coast with the chance of a brief shower now and then, sunny with some cloud elsewhere. Winds will be breezy from the west, westerlies strong possibly gusting to gale force at times about the Southland coast and Catlins. Winds ease everywhere at night.
HIGHS: 16-17 for most, 20 for inland Otago, 15 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers.
