Upper North Island

Southeasterly breezes in Northland and Auckland easing today, expect mostly sunny weather although some morning cloud may produce a few showers about eastern Northland however they will clear by midday. Sunny about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty with light southeasterlies. Cloudy periods in Gisborne with southeasterly breezes, the odd shower in the ranges. Sunny areas develop later in the afternoon with winds tending more northeast. Morning cloud breaking to a mostly sunny day in Hawkes Bay with northeasterlies developing.
HIGHS: Low 20’s out west and in Auckland, high’s between 19-21 in the Bay Of Plenty and Northland. 17-18 in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny today about the lower North Island with northeasterlies on the east coast and southwesterlies on the west coast, light winds inland. Wellington will have light northerlies.
HIGHS: Low 20’s out west, about the Central North Island and in the Wairarapa, 17-19 in Wellington.

Upper South Island

Very pleasant and sunny weather for the upper South Island today, northeasterly breezes develop in the afternoon on the east coast and west to southwesterly breezes hang about on the West Coast during the day. Expect a few areas of cloud on the West Coast.
HIGHS: Low 20’s today from Canterbury through to Nelson, perhaps reaching 23-25 in Marlborough and other sheltered inland areas like the Amuri Plains. High teen temperatures today on the West Coast north of North Westland.

Lower South Island

Great sunny weather today for most of the lower South Island, westerlies on the West Coast and in Southland and northeasterly breezes on the east coast, light winds inland. Expect areas of cloud on the West Coast.
HIGHS: Mid teen temperatures south of Hokitika on the West Coast today, early 20’s on the east coast reaching the mid 20’s in the likes of Alexandra and some other Central Otago areas. High teen temperatures in Southland.
