A ridge lies over the upper North Island today, northwesterlies build elsewhere further south then a cool southerly change moves onto the lower South Island this afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with west to southwesterly winds, some cloud about Northland from afternoon may bring an
isolated shower otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 25-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, there may be some mid level cloud about Kapiti at times. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-24

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, tending onshore in the afternoon about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne then easing evening. Northwesterlies for the Wairarapa.
Highs: 25-30

Wellington
Cloudy areas with blustery north to northwesterly winds.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, winds breezy from the northwest. Overnight showers develop with a southerly change.
Highs: 24-28

Canterbury
Thickening high cloud, late evening showers as northwesterly winds change southerly.
Highs: 22-26

West Coast
Showers, heavy rain about Fiordland spreading into North Westland late afternoon or evening. Breezy northwesterlies.
Highs: 18-22

Southland & Otago
High cloud with the odd spot of rain possible. Northerlies change southerly in the afternoon bringing showers, clearing overnight for Southland.
Highs: 21-26
