A large anticyclone centred just north of the North Island casts a ridge of high pressure over New Zealand today bringing mainly settled conditions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with light west to southwesterly winds, winds tend northerly in the afternoon about eastern Northland and the Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 20-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud with northwesterly winds, cloud may be a bit thicker in the morning.
Highs: 17-20

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds then afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 19-23

Wellington
Mostly sunny with northerly winds increasing, gusty from evening.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-23

Canterbury
Sunny with afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

West Coast
Sunny areas and some cloud at times, light northeasterlies tend northwest in the afternoon. Warmest afternoon temperatures about inland Buller.
Highs: 15-21

Southland & Otago
Sunny with northwesterly winds for most, afternoon east to northeast breezes about coastal Otago.
Highs: 18-24
