A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a front clears the upper North Island this morning meanwhile a cold front moves onto the lower South Island this morning.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain clears then becoming mostly sunny, west to southwesterly winds. Showers move in Northland during the morning and may hang around till evening.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers, mainly morning with long dry spells developing during the afternoon. Showers mostly clear in the evening. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-16

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny about Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay, rain for Gisborne clears around midday then sunny areas increase. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-21

Wellington
Mostly sunny with breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with west to northwesterly winds, late evening southerlies bring some cloud.
Highs: 19-21

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, an evening southerly change brings showers.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast
Cloudy areas, risk of a shower or two. Rain moves into Fiordland during the morning then moving into South Westland in the afternoon, rain weakens the further north it goes with only a heightened risk of showers about North Westland in the evening. Winds from the west or southwest.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago
Dry at first with high cloud then showers move into Southland during the morning, Otago early afternoon as southwest winds freshen. Showers clear in the evening with southwesterlies easing.
Highs: 11-16
