A cool southerly airflow lies over New Zealand today, the place to be is the West Coast of the South Island with a mostly sunny day in store.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of an isolated shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Northland sees showers from evening. Light winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Early rain eases to showers, showers mostly clearing away in the evening. Taranaki sees a few showers in the morning then becoming mainly dry with areas of sun at times from midday. Cool south to southeasterly winds, gusty about coastal southern Taranaki.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Early rain for the Wairarapa. Expect showers otherwise with cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Wellington
Cloudy areas with the odd shower possible, fresh southerly winds.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather. Cool south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury
Morning showers ease then clearing away in the afternoon, some sun breaks through. Later in the evening or overnight a few patchy showers move in again. Cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 8-10

West Coast
Mostly sunny weather after any early cloud clears away, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-14

Southland & Otago
Any early showers clear then some sun may break through for a time. Cloud thickens up in the afternoon and a few showers gradually move through Southland, reaching Otago in the evening before clearing overnight. Cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 9-10
