A low in the Tasman Sea draws in an east to northeasterly airflow over New Zealand today. Conditions may become unstable about the upper North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Occasional showers, perhaps an isolated heavy fall / thunderstorm, especially afternoon. A few dry areas at times also with a chance of sunny spells. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, dry spells also. Some rain moving through Taranaki at times with a chance of heavy falls. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Eastern North Island
A mostly cloudy morning, some sun breaks through at times this afternoon. A shower or two possible also mainly about the Wairarpa. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, a shower or two but many dry spells also.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, Nelson sees some rain from afternoon with heavy falls possible. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury
Mostly cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, northeasterly winds tend southwest in the evening.
Highs: 14-15

West Coast
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds tend southeast.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud after any morning fog breaks away, about the Otago coast skies may be a bit cloudier. Light winds.
Highs: 12-15
