A ridge hangs over most of New Zealand today while a low deepens in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy, there may be a shower or two about, perhaps some rain at times. Areas of precipitation more about the Coromandel, Bay Of Plenty and Waikato. Auckland is a bit 50/50 as south of there looks too see some rain or showers while further north is looking drier with areas of sun. Winds light at first then tending northeast in the afternoon.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Plenty of high cloud, Taranaki has a mostly cloudy day with some patchy rain from morning. Later in the afternoon or evening areas of rain spread elsewhere. Winds from the east or southeast.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island
Any early showers clear, remaining mostly cloudy. Some rain may return in the evening, more so about the Wairarapa and perhaps Hawkes Bay. Southerlies tend southeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with some patchy rain later in the evening, southeasterly winds.
High: 17-18

Marlborough & Nelson
Any morning cloud breaks to sunny areas and thickening high cloud, east to southeasterly winds. Some patchy rain from late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 16-19

Canterbury
Cloudy areas, thickening from evening, later in the evening or overnight a few spits move in. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, some rain moves into North Westland in the evening then further south overnight. Winds are light and variable then tending east to northeast later on.
Highs: 20-22

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, there may be some lower level coastal cloud for Otago in the morning then breaking away. Easterly quarter winds, picking up from afternoon about some coastal areas.
Highs: 17-21
