A large high continues to sit out to the east of the country today while a warm northeasterly airflow flows over New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Chance of a morning shower otherwise expect a mix of mid and high level cloud, a shower or two may hang out about eastern Northland during the day. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Cloud builds in the afternoon for inland areas, showers late afternoon / evening about inland areas from Manawatu through to Kapiti becoming heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later on.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island
Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, cloud builds about the ranges of Wairarapa in the afternoon. Showers late afternoon / evening some may be heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later in the day.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Mostly sunny with northerly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with northerly winds, some cloud about Nelson especially morning. Isolated showers may develop about inland areas late afternoon / evening with the chance of a heavy fall, possibly even a thunderstorm.
Highs: 19-24

Canterbury
Mostly sunny, for inland areas isolated showers develop late afternoon / evening. Some may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later on. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-23

West Coast
Morning cloud then mostly sunny with light north to northwesterly winds. Perhaps a late afternoon / evening isolated shower for inland Buller.
Highs: 18-22

Southland & Otago
Sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, there may be an isolated shower in the evening for inland eastern parts of Otago.
Highs: 20-26
