A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a front clears the upper North Island early this morning moving off to the northeast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers this morning may be heavy then easing to the odd shower and increasing sunny spells. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny spells and the chance of a shower or two (especially morning), breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island
Mainly sunny with morning high cloud breaking away, light winds may tend southwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Mostly sunny with light Southerlies for a time.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
A mainly sunny day with west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury
Mainly sunny with light winds.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast
Occasional showers with southwesterly winds, North Westland sees long dry periods at times.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
Showers at times for Southland with gusty westerlies about the coast, Otago sees a mainly dry morning then a few showers possible this afternoon. The mountains of Fiordland and Southland may see a few snow flurries to about 500m however flurries will only be light.
Highs: 7-12
