A cold southwest front moves northwards over the South Island today reaching the lower North Island late afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

A mix of sun and cloud, perhaps the risk of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Southwesterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny areas and increasing cloud, chance of a shower from late afternoon / evening. West to northwest winds freshen.
Highs: 11-14
 
Eastern North Island
Any early showers clear otherwise mainly sunny with light winds tending northwesterly.
Highs: 15-16
 
Wellington
Cloudy areas and occasional sun, breezy northwesterly winds change southerly late afternoon.
High: 13
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly sunny, perhaps some high cloud. West to northwesterly breezes tend southwest late afternoon then dying away in the evening.

Canterbury
Southwesterly winds freshen this morning bringing a few showers then clearing, sunny areas break through from afternoon.

West Coast
Showers turn to rain this morning then clearing in the afternoon with sunny spells breaking through, cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-11
 
Southland & Otago
Some rain about Southland clears later in the evening. Otago sees early rain clear then further rain moves in around midday before clearing in the evening, some sun may even break through at times. Snow flurries to 400m, perhaps 300m at times. Breezy cold southwesterly winds.
