High pressure brings a mainly settled day to the South Island, some cloud and the odd shower in the east Banks Peninsula northwards clears this morning. The North Island has a low to the north of Northland bringing some rain to the far north, also showers in the east from Wellington up to Gisborne. Mainly dry elsewhere.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy about Auckland with the odd shower for northern parts of Auckland. Some rain for Northland, heavy at times with possible thunderstorms, especially in the east. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty see a mainly sunny morning then high cloud from afternoon. East to southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 12-13

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and some high cloud, southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 9-12

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, dry periods too. There may be a light snow flurry about to 500m with little to no accumulations likely. Cold southerly winds.
Highs: 11-12

Wellington

The odd shower and snow flurry to 500m ease in the afternoon and clears evening, cold Southerly winds. Any snow will be minimal with little to no accumulations.
High: 9

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny with light winds.
High: 11

Canterbury

Any morning coastal showers clear then sunny areas increase from morning, Sou’West winds die out in the evening. Heavy frosts to start the day especially about the likes of inland South Canterbury.
Highs: 5-9

West Coast

Sunny with light winds, frosty morning and night especially inland.
High: 10

Southland & Otago

Any morning cloud clears otherwise expect a sunny day, light winds. Heavy frosts morning and night inland.
Highs: 5-9
