A ridge moves over New Zealand today bringing mainly settled conditions to the South Island, while the North Island sees a few morning showers clear then sunny areas increase with southwesterly winds easing.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

A few morning showers clear then sunny spells develop, gusty southwesterly winds ease.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny, southerlies tend westerly in the afternoon. Some evening cloud.
Highs: 12-13

Eastern North Island

Any early showers clear then cloud breaks to sunny spells around midday, southwesterly winds die out by evening.
Highs: 12-13

Wellington

Cloudy areas and occasional sun, southerly winds die out in the afternoon.
High: 10

Marlborough & Nelson

Any early cloud clears to mainly sunny weather, some high cloud builds from afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 11-12

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with light southwest winds tending east to northeast in the afternoon. Evening high cloud.
High: 10

West Coast

A mainly sunny day with light winds, cloud builds from evening then some rain moves in overnight.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago

Some morning sun possible about Southland then becoming mostly cloudy by midday, with a few showers late afternoon / evening. Elsewhere it’s mainly sunny with some evening cloud. Light winds.
Highs: 6-9
