A large anticyclone covers most of New Zealand today, although it’s not plain sailing with areas of cloud about especially this morning for some regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mainly sunny with light winds Auckland northwards, afternoon Sea Breezes. About the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty cloud may be a little more frequent especially this morning, there is even the chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening.
Highs: 24-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy in the morning with the chance of a light shower or two, a few sunny areas break through after midday. Westerly winds.
Highs: 22-23

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas and patches of cloud about, light winds perhaps tending onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 26-28

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with some sun possible now and then. Nor’West breezes.
High: 22

Marlborough & Nelson

Areas of high cloud, some lower level cloud builds a little from afternoon about Marlborough. Light winds in the morning then onshore winds after midday.
Highs: 23

Canterbury

Morning cloud with some drizzle about for some then afternoon sunny areas, very light southerlies tend easterly or northeast after midday.
Highs: 21-22

West Coast

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, west to southwest breezes.
Highs: 20-23

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas with westerly winds, a little breezy from afternoon. Coastal Otago has light winds all day and mainly sunny conditions after some morning cloud breaks away. Cloud thickens overnight for most.
Highs: 22-23
