A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, fairly cloudy in the west and sunnier out east. However a southwest change moving into Canterbury around midday brings cloud and a few showers, then moving into Marlborough in the evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas and some sun, chance of a shower or two about for Auckland and western Waikato otherwise mainly dry. Mostly sunny for the Bay Of Plenty. Breezy west to southwesterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny areas with westerly winds, brisk west to southwesterly winds about Taranaki.
High: 17-20
 
Eastern North Island
Mainly sunny with light winds tending southerly around midday.
Highs: 20-22
 
Wellington
Mainly sunny with northwesterly winds, evening southerly winds bring some cloud.
High: 19
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with west to northwesterly winds about Marlborough, late evening southerlies bring some cloud. Nelson has a mainly sunny day, morning southwest winds tend northerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-24
 
Canterbury
Mainly sunny weather with light winds tending northwest inland, a southerly change moves in late morning or early afternoon bringing increasing cloud and the odd shower mainly inland.
High: 20
 
West Coast
Cloudy areas and a few showers, mostly clearing during the afternoon. Breezy west to southwest winds.
High: 15
 
Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas with the odd shower at times about Southland, morning showers clear Otago then a few sunny spells move in. West to southwesterly winds, strong about the Southland coastline.
