A ridge brings mainly settled weather about the lower South Island and for much of the West Coast today while most other regions can expect cloud, rain and showers.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas with showers now and then. Breezy Sou’Westerly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

A chance of morning sun then clouding up in the afternoon with areas of rain moving in, rain may not reach the Central North Island and Taranaki till evening. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island
Mainly cloudy skies, dry in the morning then from afternoon areas of rain move in. Southeasterly winds.

Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Areas of rain with southerly winds, conditions may be dry for a time in the morning.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, rain about Marlborough may have a few heavy falls. Nelson may remain fairly dry. Strong southerlies first thing in the morning then easing towards midday.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, especially about North Canterbury where there is the chance of a heavy fall or two. As one moves into Mid Canterbury conditions become drier with South Canterbury even seeing areas of sun. Southerly winds.
Highs: 9-11

West Coast

A mainly sunny day. North of about Hokitika however expect cloud to build in the afternoon bringing the chance of a shower or two any of which clear overnight. Winds light for most.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago

A mainly sunny day with light winds, some late cloud especially about the Otago coast.
Highs: 12-15
