A frontal system moves over the upper South Island and onto the west of the North Island this afternoon and evening, with it comes rain or showers. About the far south of the South Island conditions ease.

Sunny spells with light northwesterlies, odd shower possible from afternoon. Showers more likely overnight.

Sunny spells with light northwesterlies, odd shower possible from afternoon. Showers more likely in the evening.
High: 19

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny spells and some increasing cloud with light northwesterlies, the odd
shower possible from afternoon then rain moves in during the evening. Sunny
spells for the Bay Of Plenty, cloud thickens late afternoon with rain there
overnight.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, spots of rain develop in the
afternoon about Wairarapa then move further north later in the evening. Light
winds.
Highs: 18-19

Western North Island

The odd light shower from morning then rain moves in after midday ,
northwesterlies change southerly overnight.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington

Cloudy with northwesterlies easing, the odd spot of rain possible. Winds
change southerly late afternoon, rain from evening.
High: 14

Nelson

Mostly cloudy with light westerlies, areas of rain develop late afternoon
or evening with winds tending southeast.
High: 16

Marlborough

Thickening high cloud with light winds, winds tend southerly in the
afternoon then evening rain moves in.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

Cloudy with periods of rain developing about South and Mid Canterbury
pushing north around midday, rain eases later in the evening and clearing
overnight. Southerly winds.
Highs: 12-13

West Coast

Showers south of Greymouth clearing in the morning then becoming mostly
sunny, further north expect patch showers which clear in the evening. Light
northerlies tend southeasterly as areas of precipitation clear.
Highs: 14-15

Coastal Otago

Morning showers ease then clear, sunny spells from midday. Southwesterlies
die out in the evening.
Highs: 12-13

Central Otago

Any early showers clear then sunny spells develop, southerly winds die out
in the evening.
High: 13

Southland

Periods of cloud with light westerly winds.
High: 12
