Conditions ease this morning across most of the country as a low pressure system with its centre east of the North Island loses its strength.

Northland
Sunny spells with breezy southwesterly winds, a few morning showers clear then mainly dry.
Highs: 19-20

Auckland

Morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon, brisk southwest winds ease later in the day.
High: 19

Bay Of Plenty

Early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny by midday, southwesterlies
die out later in the evening.
High: 18

Waikato & Central North Island

Early rain or showers clear then becoming mostly sunny by midday, west to
southwest winds.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island

Morning showers mostly clearing although a few could hang about Wairarapa
during the day. Sunny spells for the afternoon with breezy west to southwest
winds.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island
Early rain eases to showers, southwesterly winds. About Taranaki morning rain clears
then becoming mostly sunny.

Highs: 15-17

Wellington

Showers with brisk to strong southerly winds.
High: 14

Nelson

Morning showers clear then a few afternoon sunny spells sneaking through,
southwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough

Morning showers clear then expect cloudy spells with breezy
southwesterlies.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury

Rain with a few heavy falls possible in the morning then easing to
occasional showers from midday. Out on Banks Peninsula rain may be fairly
persistent for the rest of the day then easing overnight. Strong southwesterlies
ease overnight.
Highs: 11-12

West Coast

Sunny with southeasterly winds, any early showers north of Westport clear
in the morning.
Highs: 16-17

Coastal Otago

Cloudy periods with brisk cool southwesterlies, there may be a brief shower
at times during the day otherwise mainly dry. Southwesterlies ease overnight
with cloud breaking.
Highs: 11-12

Central Otago

Morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny afternoon, southerly winds die out
in the evening.
Highs: 9-11

Southland

Any early showers clear, sunny spells increase from midday. Southerly winds
tend light northeast in the evening.
High: 12
